In an effort to enhance the quality of education in Indonesia, the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has taken a strategic step by providing social security assurance (Jamsostek) to non-civil servant madrasah teachers. Through collaboration with BPJS Employment, this program has reached 165,768 teachers across Indonesia. This initiative is a tangible manifestation of the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of educators who have dedicated themselves to enlightening the nation.

The Jamsostek program for non-civil servant madrasah teachers not only provides financial benefits to recipients but also has a wide-ranging positive impact. With guaranteed health protection, workplace accident coverage, and retirement benefits, teachers can work more peacefully and focus on their primary task of educating. Additionally, this program is expected to increase motivation and productivity among teachers, as well as reduce teacher turnover in madrasahs.

Ensuring the welfare of teachers will directly impact the quality of education in madrasahs. Teachers who feel secure and prosperous tend to be more dedicated and have a high spirit in carrying out their duties. They will be more motivated to enhance their competencies and the quality of teaching. Consequently, students will receive better and quality education.

To benefit from the Jamsostek program, a non-civil servant madrasah teacher must meet certain criteria, such as being an active teacher, having a minimum of two years of service, and being no older than 59 years. Kemenag has allocated a budget of Rp 21.483 billion to fund this program in 2024. This program is expected to be the initial step in realizing better welfare for all non-civil servant madrasah teachers in Indonesia.

The Jamsostek program for non-civil servant madrasah teachers is a crucial step in the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. By providing social protection to teachers, it is hoped that a more conducive and sustainable educational environment can be created. Moving forward, it is hoped that this program can continue to be developed and expanded in its coverage. Moreover, regular evaluations are necessary to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of this program.
