On November 14, 2024, the collaboration between the Adiluhung Nusantara Education Foundation (YPAN), the Banyuwangi Regency Government, and the Association of Regency Governments throughout Indonesia (APKASI) successfully organized the Mini English Camp “Ant System” for selected schools in Banyuwangi Regency, involving 5 schools. The four-day event, held from November 11-14, 2024, at Aston Banyuwangi Hotel & Conference Center, aimed to enhance teachers’ competency in teaching and create a conducive English learning environment for students.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Suratno, S.Pd, M.M., the Head of the Banyuwangi Regency Education Agency, who expressed that, “The introduction of the ‘Ant System’ method is expected to create a conducive ecosystem to continuously motivate and encourage students to improve their English language skills in school.”

Similarly, Mr. Fais Bayu Wicaksono, the Chairman of the YPAN Banyuwangi Branch, emphasized the importance of mastering the English language in the era of globalization. “English is the key to seizing opportunities on an international level. Therefore, through the ‘Ant System,’ we aim to introduce creative, innovative, and easily applicable English language learning in schools,” he stated.

The “Ant System” method itself is an English language learning approach that emphasizes the use of English in real and enjoyable contexts. Over the course of four days, participants engaged in various activities, including Training of Trainers (TOT), where they were trained to become English language trainers using the “Ant System” method, in order to train other teachers at their respective schools. This was followed by the socialization of the Ant System SOP, where participants were introduced to the standard procedures for implementing the “Ant System” method. Subsequent discussions and implementations allowed participants to discuss how to apply the “Ant System” method in their schools and create action plans.

The organization of the Mini English Camp “Ant System” is expected to significantly improve the quality of English education in Banyuwangi Regency. Teachers who have undergone this training are expected to become role models and inspire other teachers to create English-speaking environments in their schools.

YPAN is committed to enhancing the quality and equity of education in Indonesia through its flagship and specific training programs. Through collaborations with various stakeholders, including local governments, YPAN strives to create a conducive learning ecosystem across the nation, with the hope of nurturing a golden generation of Indonesians ready to face global challenges.
